And *we* surely did! Eight people from our off-world Muses group attended Codie’s first workshop on the MachinimaCam and got so much more from this workshop than we ever expected.
We got not only a beginning primer on the MachinimaCam but a totally down-to-earth, easy to grasp look at system technical requirements, resolution, advice on editing apps and a really great slide presentation which included a wonderful detailed look at all of the controls and functions of the cam. Codie has such a nice presentation style … very engaging, professional, and fun. The room itself, as you see in the image below, most definitely keeps a person awake with its vivid Code Red color scheme and Codie even allowed time for a nice break between sections. It was the perfect setting, and the chairs were comfy too. *laughs*
You can read the transcripts from the class at tumblr, here … there we go!
Just to recap Codie’s recommendations for what’s needed to getting started are the following:
Cam: MachinimaCam Pro (duh. lol)
Capture: Fraps
Editing App: Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Pro
Oh and on a side note, I also want to mention here Luth Brodie’s excellent information on getting started on machinima. It’s kind of a hidden treasure that I haven’t seen mentioned on any of the other resources I’ve found (I will include those later when I find the damn file I kept them all in!). But, I really think Luth’s tutorials on Poser and the one on machinima are really great. So take a look-see!
That’s it for now. I have so much first life to do right now and am completely offline on Sunday and Monday, but I wanted to get this onto the blog before I left for my “Art, Nature, and the Meaning of First Life” romps I do now on Sunday and Monday (really just being totally engaged with family, friends, the beauty of Spring, and thrift shopping is all … lol … We need that, you know?)
I will post new information on the next workshop when I get back. Read the info on FilterCam for prep. See you Tuesday! ;=)
